A Grievance to the Body of my Youth

You used to make me feel young.
But as time progresses your disloyalty
becomes more evident.
You generously bestow new memories and
gradually seize old ones.
Skin formerly taut is now slack.
Breasts that stood erect
now hang limply.
Gone are the once slender hips,
now widened by childbirth.
The vitality you so liberally gave
is replaced with weariness.
As you leisurely turn your back on me,
I can do nothing except embrace the changes
that are inevitable.
My only comfort is that you have
betrayed others as well.
